I trained as a hairdresser until I returned to education as a mature student. I was totally shocked to achieve a honours degree and I carried on with my studies to become a qualified social worker. I have done various jobs since relocating to Wiltshire in 2006 but this is my favourite. I work with such dedicated people and my role enables me to empower and support carers to access information and services they need. As a parent of a disabled adult and with aging parents, I know only too well how difficult things can be for carers. In my spare time I’d like to say that I go for long walks, craft, visit historical places and spend quality time with my family and friends ‘up North’ but in the real world, I run around after my adult children, dog sit for my son and jump at any chance to forget the diet and eat out.
