Stacey has cared for her Mum since she was a little girl. Mum has multiple health issues that mean she needs physical and emotional support. Because of the challenges of juggling looking after Mum with her studies Stacey found school difficult. Her mental health began to suffer and she struggled with an eating disorder and anxiety.

A Carers Trust survey found that 39% of young carers said that nobody in their school was aware of their caring role with many struggling alone with no support.

Despite these setbacks, Stacey persevered and went on to complete a Level 3 Business and Admin Course at College.  Unfortunately, her mental health problems resurfaced and Stacey found herself unable to continue working. When she was seventeen, Stacey was referred by her GP surgery to Carer Support Wiltshire. We were able to provide one to one support, advice and information and for the first time, Stacey felt she had someone in her corner.

Now twenty, Stacey is receiving counselling made possible by our Time for Carers Appeal and has been able to return to work. She is also looking to volunteer here at CSW.
