The Carer Support Wiltshire young carer service will begin from 1st April 2018. We will work with Wiltshire Council and other organisations to ensure all young carers are identified and properly supported. This is in addition to our work with young adult carers.
Working with schools, colleges, community groups and delivery partners such as Youth Action Wiltshire we will provide young carers with breaks, activities and opportunities to learn, aspire and grow. Activities during term time and holiday will include cookery, arts, sports, wildlife and outdoor crafts.
Carer assessments for children and young people will be carried out by Wiltshire Council to ensure young carers get the help they are entitled to. If you are the parent or guardian of a young carer please contact them.
If you identify a young carer through your work as a teacher, health professional, group leader, or through your work in the community please make a referral through Wiltshire Council.
If you would like further information on the support and services available for young carers you can also call us on 01380 871690.
If you are a business or organisation that would like to support our work with young carers please contact Jon Berridge on 01380 871690.
